Kisii School student charged with attempted murder for stabbing two teachers

A 17-year-old Kisii School student has been charged with attempted murder over Tuesday’s attack on two teachers.

The student was arraigned and charged on Wednesday, January 13, for stabbing two teachers with a knife.

After pleading not guilty to the charge, the student was released on Sh50,000 cash bail or Sh100,000 bond by Kisii High Court.

He was arrested on Tuesday by police officers after he stabbed two teachers within the school compound.

The student reacted violently after being told to explain why he turned up late for morning studies by one of the teachers at the national school.

In a police report seen by Mediamax Digital, Edwin Nyakundi had ordered the student to kneel down in the staffroom but the student instead walked out and went to the dormitory where he armed himself with a knife.

Armed with the sharp weapon, the student went straight to the teacher and stabbed him. When a colleague tried to intervene to stop the attack, the student also stabbed him.

The report revealed that the first teacher sustained injuries on the left shoulder, left side of the abdomen, and left leg.

The second teacher was stabbed on the cheek.

They were both taken to Rama Hospital where the second teacher was treated and discharged while his colleague was admitted.

The student told investigators that he was unhappy at the school and had repeatedly asked his parent to transfer him but in vain.
