Police officer arrested for punching and kicking his boss in front of public members

By Nyaboga Kiage.

A police officer from Tigania East in Meru County was on Tuesday, December 1 arrested after attacking his boss.

Stephen Lenairoshi of Service Number 226670 had been
directed by his boss, Patrick Wambugu, to accompany Meru Deputy County
Commissioner Stephen Ogolla to a COVID-19 sensitisation event.

Wambugu, the OCS of Mikinduri Police Station, on Tuesday
afternoon called Lenairoshi to his office so that he (Wambugu) could give the
junior officer a briefing on what would be expected of him when he accompanies
Ogolla to the exercise.

Lenairoshi arrived at the OCS’s officer, but Wambugu was
attending to other members of the public.

According to a police report filed at the station under the
OB Number 24/01/12/2020, Lenairoshi appeared drunk, prompting Wambugu to
question why he (Lenairoshi) had reported to work while intoxicated.

It was then that the junior cop punched the OCS in the face
and kicked him, forcing other officers on duty to intervene.

Lenairoshi was, thereafter, placed in custody for subsequent
legal action.
