Residents of Kamirithu Village in Limuru, Kiambu County woke up to a rude shock Tuesday when they found the grave of a 15-year-old boy, who was buried last Thursday, had been exhumed.
Ian Kamau Wanjiku was laid to rest at the Kamirithu public
cemetery after allegedly succumbing to COVID-19.
Unknown people on Monday night exhumed the grave, but did
not steal Ian’s coffin, nor make away with his remains.
The deceased’s aunt, Hannah Wambui, said the incident
shocked them as family, given they do not know who raided the grave or the
motive of their action.
Police officers from Togoni arrived at the scene and
ascertained that Ian’s remains had not been removed.
The cops, thereafter, refilled the grave, promising to
investigate the matter and bring perpetrators to book.
