Kiambu county Governor Ferdinand Waititu, on Saturday, July 20, walked his daughter, Njeri Ndungu, down the aisle and handed her over to the love of her life, Nyotu Gitau, in a colourful wedding ceremony.
the nuptials were exchanged at the Presbyterian Church of East Africa PCEA in Runda, Nairobi.
The invite-only affair saw the attendance of politicians, top businessmen and even former First Lady Ngina Kenyatta as well as her son Muhoho Kenyatta.
Also on the guests list was Deputy President William Ruto, who was honoured by being given some few minutes to advise the newly-weds as they start their marriage life.
The DP turned into a comedian and cracked attendees at the wedding with his advice.
Ruto congratulated the couple for their nuptials and specifically asked the groom to take good care of his bride.
On a light note, he urged the new hubby to always feed and pamper his wife with nice things such as good clothes.
”You must take good care of your wife, make sure there is enough food, when you go out there buy her nice dresses, that way you will not be attracted to other women in nice dresses,’‘ Ruto said.
The DP went ahead to assure the couple that the Jubilee government would gladly take care of their maternity bills, hence they should not fear conceiving.
”As you know, the Jubilee administration minds everybody’s business and makes sure we are all equal. If you are not informed, I want to inform you that the government of Kenya now pays for maternity. So, do no worry at all because when she gets pregnant, with your effort of course, the government will sort you,” DP said.
His maternity advice cracked guests at the wedding who laughed with excitement.
It should be noted Waititu’s daughter’s wedding made headlines on Friday after it emerged that the governor had shortlisted his soon-to-be in law for a top position in the county government.
The name of Herman Gitau Nyotu was, however quickly, removed from the list of shortlisted candidates soon after the wedding invitation card went viral on social media.
