– With speeds of up to 4mbps, users can enjoy unlimited internet for KSh 10 hourly or a daily plan for KSh 50. Internet users in Nairobi and Kiambu counties can now breathe a sigh of relief after a technology company launched over 3,000 hotspots of reliable WI-Fi.
Uko Poa Wi-Fi, Kenya’s largest public Wi-Fi network, allows its subscribers to enjoy high speed internet at prices far lower than traditional data bundles
Apart from street WI-Fi, the company provides home internet where users can choose to subscribe to hourly, daily, weekly or monthly data plans.
“It saves consumers at least half the cost of buying internet and ends the tradition of counting MBs. They can stream or download files as large as they like, opening up the Internet to far richer use at a far lower cost,” said Andy Halsall, CEO of Poa Internet.
With speeds of up to 4mbps, users can enjoy unlimited internet for KSh 10 hourly while a daily plan goes for KSh 50.
Hotspots are available in Kibera, Jamhuri, Kawangware, Kangemi, Kabiria, Waithaka, Racecourse, Kinoo, Dagoretti, Kikuyu, Kiambu, Ting’ang’a, Kirigiti, Ndumberi and Githunguri.
The new plan is also set to see more than 20,000 homes connected to the infrastructure.
“High-speed home broadband with free access to thousands of Wi-Fi hotspots, and low-cost unlimited internet access on the street for those who can’t afford a home connection is transformational in bringing affordable internet to all Kenyans,” said Andy.
