A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier has shot dead his three relatives in Jua Kali area in the outskirts of Eldoret town, Uasin Gishu county, before turning the gun on himself.
It was reported that the officer drove drove himself to his relatives’ homestead on Tuesday, April 30, at around 5:30am and opened fire.
He killed his girlfriend, step-mother and uncle before turning the gun on himself.
The soldier is based at Gilgil and had travelled on Monday night before driving to the home. Eldoret West police boss Zachariah Bitok said security officers have launched further investigations into the incident.
He said officers are at the home to probe what caused the incident and also collect the bodies.
The incident came barely weeks after a man killed Moi University Sixth Year medical student, Ivy Wangechi, in broad daylight at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret town.
